An interesting article came up on JSTOR daily about trinities in ancient Egypt.

I grew up Evangelical Christian. I have come to understand their insistence on creationism and preaching even in the public schools of Billings Montana in the same context of George Orwell's 2 + 2 = 5 or Captain Picard's Torture in Star Trek. It was a constant pressure of ideology I've heard described recently as Christianism.

One desire of Evangelical Christianity is to flatten out history. The earth must only be 5000 years old. There can't have been massive civilizations that have risen and fallen, gods created and forgotten. But the fact is, we know how they've generated this consensus.

I remember how insistent they were in church about the trinity and understanding it. It taught me graph theory and brain washing. So, it prepared me for the internet I guess.

It seems that the world of The Late Great Planet Earth and the liberal equivalent of The End of History manifests itself everyplace. It demands a singular totality with a framework that cannot in fact handle this totality. It declares itself the end of history and plunders and destroys anything that says different
